A selection of brand new short stories of adventure and intrigue. Meet Vampires, Werewolves, Ordinary people who find themselves in extraordinary situations, animals with attitude, and a legend of the steam age.
It was a fantastic read and I thoroughly enjoyed exploring the magical worlds you created throughout the collection. I particularly enjoyed ‘To bite or not to bite’, finding the character development and story progression fascinating.
The incorporation of current societal and environmental issues such as climate change really resonated with me and gave the stories a three dimensional feel

Although three books precede this story very few of the characters from the previous books appear. No reader should be put off because they haven't read the previous books.
Following on from Book 3 (Restitution) we find Caldar and Sylvana (the children of Chris and Mary) longing for a return to Traymar (the planet of their birth) before they die. They are urged in dreams to make the journey, but Starseeker is in a museum, out of fuel, and has not flown for a thousand years. Read of the search for fuel, the problems that search causes. Experience the eventual return to Traymar and what is found there. A different evil has established itself and must be removed. Caldar and Sylvana are old. Can they prevail?
Sitting on a bus, two men discuss a project to the interest of a fellow passenger. Leaving the bus the two men are followed then persuaded to tend to the sick crew of an alien craft and also to affect repairs. That is when their problems start.
Restitution is the third book in the series that began with When Evil Calls. We now follow Chris and Mary’s struggle to be accepted among the Dragonia whom they have joined. As the accident that turned Mary into one of the Dragonia, and subsequently Chris followed, has made them the most powerful individuals seen for centuries there is resentment among those in government. We follow their battle to change society for the better, to overcome evil once more, and to raise their new children. Finally there is the attempt to return to Earth
Having defeated the evil that forced the inhabitants of Paxlene, both human and animal to seek refuge at night in well lit locations. They attempt to return to Earth but reach it just before a large asteroid crashes into the Earth. They manage to cocoon a few isolated places then turn their faces back towards Paxlene. Shortly into their journey they discover that they can no longer access their controls and their course has been changed. Intercepted by friends from Paxlene both vessels are pulled towards, but not into, what they believe to be a black hole. They are met by another vessel whose occupants beg for help in sorting a problem on their planet. After much discussion and a visit to Paxlene, they agree to go with the strangers, although they are aware that there is something strange about them.
They find that what they believed to be a black hole is in fact a Wormhole through space. They pass through and come out in a new galaxy and land on the planet Traymar. As they come in they are confronted by dragons. Their new friends cannot understand why they are so calm. As when they approached it appeared the whole planet was on fire. Adventure follows and two of our characters are eventually changed. They have to work hard to be accepted into this society. Another form of evil is encountered and defeated followed by another attempt to return to Earth. The story continues with the final book ‘Restitution’.
A whole class of boys disappear without trace from their school. Another set of boys apparently witness what happened but are physically prevented from describing what they saw for some months.
This latter group of boys separate to follow their own careers, marry and raise children, but are eventually all brought together again in an engineering capacity – despite earlier interests. Working together they devise new alloys and electronic communication devices. They build a model of machine they believe will travel through space – at the same time secretly building the parts for a full size machine.
The model is tested in front of witnesses and performs perfectly but disappears from all monitoring systems for most of the test flight.
While testing the new communication device a message is received from their old school friends who vanished those years ago. It takes some convincing of others that these boys (men now|) are still alive but permission is given for the full size machine to be built.
Whole families are smuggled aboard the machine which, rather than going for a test flight, heads for the planet where their old friends are waiting.
On arrival they find that all the people there have to be underground at night and in well lit places; any person, or animal, left outside at night is found dead the next day.
They explore the planet, make friends with unknown animals, but are caught outside at night. A call for help is answered and they all survive, but now have a mission to destroy the darkness.
They return to Earth to pick up people versed in ancient magics and return to Paxlene where, after adventures the darkness is defeated.
An attempt is made to return the special people to Earth but fails as the Earth is about to be hit by a giant Asteroid. They are able to cocoon parts of the Earth and shield them from the catastrophe, but it all happens too quickly for anyone to be returned home.
They try return to Paxlene, now free of evil, where they plan to help to build new societies out in the open, but something takes over their controls.
